STDA proposes 'Open Circuit' courses with 3 recreational levels and 3 for decompression diving. R 2 course (AOW) & R2 Deep course

R2 Targets

The 'R 2' course aims to continue the training started with 'R 1' program, extending knowledge and in water skills, through dry labs sessions, confined water sessions and open water dives using air and hyperoxygen mixes till 40% of O2. The R2 course includes four modules: deep, navigation, night and enriched diving (till 40%). At the end of the course the diver will be able to dive till 30 meters in team.

 

Prerequisites

  • be R 1 STDA certified or equivalent; the instructor can ask to do a check dive before the course start
  • medical certificate not older than 12 months; non smoker
  • minimum age: 18 years old (or 15 years old with the written consent of a parent or legal guardian)

 

Program and duration

minimum course duration: 4 days

minimum theory hours, dry labs included: 1, 2

theory session: 6 - ratio intructor/students: 1/8

final assessment: quizzes with multiple choice

Maximum percentage of allowed wrong answer: 20%

Exceeding the maximum allowable percentage leads to the repetition of the quiz (not in the same day)

Dry labs: minimum 1,mixes analysis, improvement of swimming skills and compass use

Confined water session: minimum 1 - ratio instr/student: 1/4

Open water dives: minimum 3 for a minimum of 90 minutes - ratio instr/student: 1/3

The maximum time for completion of the course: 6 months that if exceeded, the course must be repeated entirely

 

Certification limits

  • Max depth: 30 meters
  • Max pO2, on the bottom: 1,3 ata
  • Allowed mixes: air and EANx 23-40%
  • Decompression, overhead, SOLO diving not permitted

Cost:

750€ for training (manual + theory in classroom/web on-line, quiz, cw sessions and dives)

NOT included: mix, , instructor 'room and board' for other locations, boats if needed and extra days for training or delays due to adverse weather conditions.

Extra training day cost: 200€/day

R2 DEEP

'R2 Deep' aims to extend the limits of R2 (or euqivalent), through theoretical & dry lab sessions,  shallow water sessions and dives, introducing the use of Tri-mix Tx20/20. Moreover the diver is introduced to the fundamentals of rescue skills. At the end of the program the diver will be able to:

  • plan dives with STDA minimum deco using Tx20/20
  • recover an unconscious diver
  • improve skills of previous courses
  • option: workshop with twin tanks and/or drysuit

Prerequistes

  • be certified as R2 diver STDA or equivalent; in this regard, the instructor may request a dive before starting the course within the limit of the patent held by the candidate
  • medical certificate for the underwater activity (the exam should include the 'stress' test with an electrocardiogram); be a no smoker
  • age: minimum 18 (15 with the written permission of the parents )

 

Program and duration with 3 candidates

duration: minimum 4 days

duration of theory sessions, including dry-labs: 10 hours

theroy sessions: 4 - ratio instructor/divers: 1/8

Final quiz: multiple choice type
